Our planning is live….!

What with Christmas and the complexity of our planning application, it took a little longer than expected but finally our application is out for consultation! As we have a listed 16th century building right behind our main farmhouse (in fact it’s actually connected via an exterior terrace), and because some of the other buildings date back to the 19th century, we’ve asked for curtilage listing within our application. This means that our other buildings will also be subject to the same protection as our listed building; while it’s likely to increase costs, it also means the history of the buildings will be protected for years to come.

It was quite exciting to see the application online, but when we received our formal laminated planning notices in the post to put up outside the property, it felt that bit more real 😊 Now we’re in the hands of the council and our community, and desperately hoping they approve our proposals so we can move to the next stage…

We’ve also booked in our next stage in our bat story! Having only squeezed in one bat emergence survey before the bats tucked themselves in for winter, we have to wait until they wake up in May for two more surveys. Once we’re clear on where they’re living or staying (or commuting between habitats!), we’ll apply for our bat license that allows us to rehome them during the construction works.

In the meantime – I wish we had an excuse to rest, but with half of the farmhouse still to decorate, and with various garden jobs ready and waiting for dry weather, we need to get back to our job list and find some motivation!
