Not ready for planning submission after all…

Today was our target day for submitting our planning application but sadly (and perhaps not surprisingly) we’re not quite there yet. We got really excited when we received the digital versions of our plans last week – our architects really have done a brilliant and speedy job. But we’d got our hopes up in vain, as we still need to have a structural survey before we can submit anything to the council, and we’re also waiting for the ecologist to confirm that the proposals for our bat spaces are acceptable. We’re desperately hoping to get it in before Christmas but now we’re at the mercy of busy diaries, and keeping our fingers tightly crossed!

It’s turned out to be a wonderfully dry weekend too (famous last words!), and given the latest Tier 2 lockdown rules have meant we’ve had to cancel yet another visit from friends, we’ve decided to leave the indoor redecoration and try to get some of the outdoor jobs done. The house will have to remain in chaos for another couple of weeks…

Given that work and chores mean I’ve not actually left the house for over two weeks, we decided to get out for a walk on Friday morning and have a change of scenery before I turned into a grumpy hermit! It’s amazing just how quiet the lanes around here are – even on the main road from Chard to Axminster, we were only passed by about 15 cars in half an hour. Low cloud and haze meant we couldn’t quite see the sea this time, but the views across the valley were still breathtaking and well worth falling a bit behind in our jobs!

Hopefully we’ll make some progress over the next few days – as long as the weather stays nice…

  1. We are all gaining more time to do various tasks which Tier 2 has created – fingers crossed you will get the plans submitted by the end of the year
