When we moved in, the New Barn, which we believed to be the remains of a single storey animal barn, had collapsed and been left as a shell, with flowers, figs and a cultivated blackberry trailing over the walls in the summer. We knocked the whole building down and rebuilt a new two storey barn that now houses a communal games room for our guests, a communal laundry, and a storage room for us.
The building also houses a bat loft above part of the games room – some of the larger bat species we have like space to fly around and stretch their wings before heading out for their evening feeding.
The New Barn Games Room
The New Barn Games Room is a communal space for all of our guests to enjoy. It contains a pool table and a home cinema, complete with the ability to link it to a streaming account or to choose from a range of DVDs. Alternatively guests can use a Playstation 3 connected to the home entertainment system. A kitchenette provides tea and coffee, and has an honesty-operated fridge stocked with soft drinks.
The New Barn Laundry
The Laundry is also communal for all guests to use. It’s located on the ground floor of the New Barn and has a washer-dryer as well as drying racks, an iron and an ironing board.
Muddy Paws and Boots Shower
On the side of the New Barn we have installed an outdoors shower to help guests clean muddy dogs and boots before going inside. It has a small supply of hot water to keep pups happy in the colder weather!
