Heating up the games room

The games room is really taking shape now. This week we had heating installed – we had originally chosen a smart storage heater that we could control remotely (in case our guests left the heating on when the room wasn’t in use) but it turns out we’d need to buy a separate bit of equipment that costs £150! Instead our electrician has showed us how to ‘lock’ the heater so it can only be changed with a passcode – so we’ve set up a programme that should keep it warm throughout the day. We had aimed to add it to our listing by the end of November but suddenly that’s come and gone and we still have a few things to finish…

We had more guests come for the weekend who left the house very clean and tidy. It makes such a difference doing the changeover on Sunday when it’s left it a decent state. It was lovely to read their comment in the guest book and to see their five-star review on AirBnB already – reviews are really valuable to secure future bookings so we’re always very grateful for everyone who takes the time to leave one. It was also good to hear they’d been to our local pub on Saturday – one of our aims is to promote local businesses and we do have some lovely pubs around here.

Other than that we’ve had a fairly unproductive weekend when it comes to our job list. I’ve got a day off next Friday though to try and catch up. This will also be our first weekend without guests since September (unless we get a late booking which is unlikely now) so it’s an opportunity to get a few things tidied and done in the farmhouse – it’s just a case of choosing where to start!
