Well, the public consultation for our planning application closed yesterday, and as far as we’re aware, we’ve not had any objections except from a district councillor who thinks it’s over-development for a rural space (even though the buildings are there already, go figure!). So, we’re starting to get a bit excited, even though the planning department still need to make their decision. We had the Conservation Officer round this week as well, although their Covid-safe rules meant we weren’t allowed to go out and meet her, and show her round. The best case is that we’ll hear in a few weeks’ time, so keeping our fingers tightly crossed for a positive outcome!! Our submission included a request that the entire site is made curtilage-listed – due to the proximity of the listed Elizabethan cottage at the back of the site – once we know this, we’ll be able to start planning the work to the main farmhouse (some small changes upstairs and hopefully solar panels!).
We’ve made a bit more progress inside this weekend too – putting up the lights in the spare room. Our neighbour (a highly-skilled carpenter) made us some beautiful light brackets that we’ve used for bedside lights – it’ll make it much easier to change the room between a double and two singles as there’ll be one less thing to move! The room really does look so different now. Just a few more coats of paint on the windowsill, some shelves to put up and the door hinges to paint, and it’ll be finished!!
And somehow we’ve already managed to finish the second peach-tree cover too! It definitely helped having done one last weekend, this one was much quicker and actually looks straight!! All it took was a bit of practice and a change to the design… We’ll need to work out what jobs to start tomorrow now we have a free day!

New bedside lights
Under the covers!
Rain and cold protection – at last!
Wow, love the bedside lamps and the room looks fabulous! Fingers crossed for planning approval xx
