Preparing our ‘Walk Directory’ – then it snowed!

Our customer research showed that people appreciate having ready-made walks when they go on holiday to locations like ours. And while digital advances mean John’s already set up guest access to the Ordnance Survey app and mapped a range of walks on it, I advocated for the old school printed instructions and maps (just imagine if your phone battery dies halfway round!!).

So, never one to hide from a challenge, John has already written our first walk! It’s complete with route numbers, distance and gradient tracking, step-by-step instructions, and a special ‘boot’ rating to delineate between easy and harder routes – well, his view anyway… For those less fit amongst us, I’ll be walking every route first and upgrading them as necessary!! It also gives us a chance (post-lockdown) to try the various pubs that the walks appear to have been mapped around… I guess it’s not really a walk without a pub?)

In other news, we FINALLY started some of the leftover jobs around the house… our wooden kitchen worktop is now sanded and oiled (a bi-annual joy that John gets to look forward to); we started to clear some of the flower beds of dead leaves and moss; and then…. IT SNOWED!!!! So all bets were off, and our Sunday morning was spent out walking down snowy lanes and taking a LOT of photos…

Well, there’s always next weekend for jobs I suppose…
