Four and a half solid days of painting, and we’ve managed to break the back of two more rooms. It feels so nice to see some progress – even if we still have to paint the woodwork and order the finishing touches like curtains and lampshades before the rooms are ready for visitors (sneak preview photos below)… And with serious cloudbursts throughout the day, at least we weren’t missing out on good weather. In fact, we were treated to some incredible rainbow displays on Monday & Tuesday – super bright, full arcs and double rainbows – a definite reason for a break.

Wednesday brought our first frost and beautiful clear-blue skies, so once we finished painting and raked the front lawn, we took an opportunity to walk up to the top of the valley and see the autumn colours (as it’s been warmer further down the valley where we are, the trees haven’t really started changing colours yet). We found a great 7 mile route with amazing autumnal orange and yellow tones and beautiful views, especially in the late afternoon sun. The route also took us back through Stockland (our neighbouring village) and past the pub so of course we had to stop and make the most of the last day before another lockdown…

Wow, spare bedroom and dining room looking great! And those views – how beautiful are they!
