What a busy weekend! If you’ve been following us on Instagram or Facebook you’ll have seen a few photos from the last few days. Two extra pairs of hands, two new rakes and a mower means we made some real progress in the garden (despite the puppy’s best attempts) – and it looks fantastic! Leaves raked, brambles cut back, grass mowed and strimmed, nettles removed, dead branches cut back, and fruit picked – the place looks so smart. (well it did until Storm Francis hit). It makes such a difference when you can walk around without seeing never-ending jobs everywhere.
As the weather closed in on Monday, we spent the evening preparing for winter – freezing the fruit we’d picked, and cutting up the dead branches and sticks into kindling to put away for winter 2021. Of course – we woke this morning to find our freshly-raked grass covered with leaves and sticks again, but a few days of leaves is nothing compared to a month of them!
We also got to explore a new walk route recommended by one of our neighbours, this time round the back of the farm and looking across at the valley from further up. We’re lucky to have quiet lanes and stunning views across the valleys, with pretty farm buildings along the way. It means we can keep our traipses through cow fields to a minimum – I know they’re only inquisitive but they still take some getting used to!

So enjoyed being with you both and seeing your new home. Looking forward to reading progress xx
