This is a short loop that runs through the valley and up through Yarcombe village. You get amazing views down Yarty Valley when you climb up the short hill section along the A30.
- Total distance 3.26 miles (5.25km)
- Estimated time 1 hour
- Elevation 344 ft at lowest point, 582 ft at highest point
- Total ascent 413 ft

These instructions start at Ley Farm, Yarcombe, EX14 9LW.
- Leave Ley Farm turning left out of the gate onto the lane (heading north). Continue along the lane all the way to the end – just over a mile, ignoring all turnings until you reach the A30 just below Yarcombe village.
- Turn left following the pavement up the side of the A30. Continue along the pavement, heading up through the village. At time of writing The Yarcombe Inn was closed with no sign of reopening. Hopefully by the time you’re reading this it has reopened and provides an opportunity for rest and refreshment. Follow the A30 heading up around a hairpin bend. As you climb out of the village continue along the pavement until you reach a row of houses on your left with a lane turning left downhill just before the first house.
- Take this left turning heading downhill along a twisting lane. After 10 minutes or so, look out for a right turning with a signpost for a ‘Public Bridleway’. Take this turning and at the end of this short lane you’ll get to the bridleway. Continue to the end of the bridleway where it meets a lane.
- Turn left on the lane heading downhill for a short section. At the end you’ll return to the lane that runs past Ley Farm. Turn right and continue for around three quarters of a mile until you return back to Ley Farm.
